Network and firewall

Network at VYN IT is the line, the Wi-Fi, the switches and the firewall that connect the office, a branch and home office to mail and business software. We separate what does not belong together and name which path carries the business.

Network at VYN IT is the line, the Wi-Fi, the switches and the firewall that connect the office, a branch and home office to mail and business software. We separate what does not belong together and name which path carries the business.

A second line only helps when it is clear what still works if it fails. Guests do not belong on the office Wi-Fi. Firewall rules have a purpose. Changes do not happen as a side task while the till is open. Detail on the firewall itself is on the security page.

What we do

  • The site network

Switches, cabling where it carries the business, Wi-Fi for office and guests kept apart.

  • Firewall and VPN

Allows with a reason, remote access or a site link for the people and branches that need them.

  • Lines

What the provider delivers, which application runs over it and what an outage of the line means.

  • Wi-Fi

Separate networks, passwords not on the fridge for everything, coverage where people actually work.

  • Moves and new rooms

Sockets, access points and the firewall move with you, in a window, before furniture blocks the rack.

Technologies and solutions

  • Switch and VLAN

Office, guests, servers and building systems on separate networks.

  • Wi-Fi

Separate names for the business and for guests, matching the VLANs.

  • Firewall

Rules, VPN, logs. The device records continuously. Someone reads them on business days.

  • VPN

For home office or a branch, only to the systems that must be reached from outside.

  • DNS and DHCP

Who hands out addresses is known. Not two devices at once that disagree.

What you gain

  • Guests stay outside

The visitor network cannot see shares or the till.

  • The application’s path is known

When a line fails, someone knows what stops and whom to call.

  • Wi-Fi is enough to work

Not only in the meeting room, but where the devices sit.

  • Changes can be traced

A new allow rule has a reason and a person who asked for it.

Typical problems

  • One Wi-Fi, one password

Guests, scanners and the office share the same network.

  • Nobody knows the line

Contract number and the provider portal sit with someone who is on leave.

  • Two DHCP servers

Devices get addresses from different places, and faults look random.

  • VPN into the whole network

Home office sees everything, including admin surfaces it does not need.

How we work

  1. 1

    Advice

We draw the line, Wi-Fi, firewall and the applications that come from outside.

  2. 2

    Planning

Separate networks, the scope of VPN and the window for the change.

  3. 3

    Implementation

Cut over when there is a way back to the old firewall or the old Wi-Fi.

  4. 4

    Optimization

Open rules, wrong wireless networks and double DHCP are cleaned up.

  5. 5

    Ongoing care

New sites and new people join the same structure. Care is Monday to Friday.

Frequently asked questions

Is the provider’s router enough?

Sometimes for a small office without VPN and without separate guests. Once business software, a branch or guests arrive, usually not. We say so from what you run.

Can guests use the office Wi-Fi?

No, if shares or the till are reachable there. A separate guest network is the normal answer.

Do you look after the internet line?

We help tell whether the line, the firewall or the server has stopped, and which portal and number apply. We do not replace the contract with the provider.

Does firewall logging mean a night shift?

No. The device records continuously. Someone reads it Monday to Friday. Call +43 1 996 96 33.

How does this relate to the firewall page?

That page is rules and VPN in detail. This page is the line, the Wi-Fi and the network the firewall sits in.
