Monitoring
Monitoring at VYN IT makes outages visible before accounting calls. We watch servers, virtual machines, disk capacity, backup jobs, the firewall and the services the business depends on. The systems report continuously. Alerts are read and handled Monday to Friday.
A console that turns red only when nobody is signed in is not monitoring. Messages go to a role address two people can reach. Call +43 1 996 96 33 or use the contact form. We do not offer a staffed night shift. Monitoring also does not replace looking at the device: it says where someone has to look.
What we do
Servers and services
Whether the machine and the application that should answer are reachable. Not only a ping when the service itself is down.
Storage and availability
Free space on disks and datastores, before backup or the database fails.
Backup jobs
Failures and runs that have not succeeded for days. The message does not go to an abandoned mailbox.
Network and firewall
Reachability and the notes the device writes. The appliance logs continuously. People read them on business days.
Analysis from the alert
An alert is the start. We narrow down whether a disk, a service, the line or a full target is the cause, and fix it on business days or say whose provider is next.
Technologies and solutions
Servers and virtual machines
Hosts and the guests that run the business software.
Storage
Free space and, where the device provides it, disk health.
Backup
Success, age of the last run, a full target.
Firewall and network
Reachability of the line and the important paths, not every session as an alert.
Recipients
A role address and the view we help operate. Thresholds that fit the device, instead of everything marked critical.
What you gain
Red means something
Old alerts are gone. What remains has a recipient.
Full disks show up earlier
Not only on Monday when nobody can save.
Backup failures are visible
Before the last usable copy is too old.
You can see what is not watched
Leaving something out on purpose is better than a false sense of completeness.
Typical problems
Alerts to the person from back then
The mailbox is gone, the alert is not.
Everything is critical
So nothing is, and nobody reads anymore.
Backup red only in the console
Nobody opens it until a restore fails.
A new site, no checks
The devices run, but they are not in monitoring.
How we work
- 1
Advice
Which services would stop the business, plus backup and free space. What is deliberately not watched.
- 2
Planning
Checks, thresholds and recipients. Not every message at the same urgency.
- 3
Implementation
Connect, remove old alerts, send a test alert to the role address.
- 4
Optimization
Thresholds that only create noise are tightened or removed.
- 5
Ongoing care
Read and sort them on business days. Add new systems. No night shift.
Frequently asked questions
Does monitoring mean someone is on call at night?
No. The systems report continuously. Alerts are read and handled Monday to Friday. We do not offer a staffed night shift. Call +43 1 996 96 33.
What is watched?
Servers, virtual machines, free space, backup jobs, the firewall and services whose failure would stop the business. What is deliberately not watched is listed.
Where do alerts go?
To a role address two people can reach, and into the view we help operate. Not to a private mailbox.
Is every red message an outage?
No. That is why we clear old alerts. Red should mean something a person can check on a business day. We then look at the device, the line or the backup target.
Does monitoring replace backup?
No. It shows whether the job ran. The copy itself and the restore test are the backup service.
